DRAWING ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE BRAIN PREP & TROUBLEMAKERS SESSION 4: Leonardo Da Vinci studies
Hey again, been a little while since I did an update for my book study of Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain but here is another one!
Am coming up to the last few chapters which have intimidated me a bit. Particularly because the authors asks that I draw a real person in profile.
I’ve asked a friend of mine if he would mind sitting for me, and he agreed to it, saying he would watch a movie meanwhile. However, I don’t want to waste his or my time too much so I decided to do some preparation drawings before I do the real thing.
I decided to try and copy two profile drawings by Leonardo Da Vinci as I love his simplified line work. I am also going to be a bit cheeky and use this as my art history study for our fourth week of the Troublemakers study group! >:)
As I’ve said with the PKMike studies I did I really enjoy analyzing and learning from these kinds of line drawings and hope that one day I can develop my own style of line art akin to this. Here’s what I did:
Played with the levels a bit in Photoshop as the glare of the graphite was blurring out a lot of the features 🙁 best I can do I am afraid
Was fun though and learned a lot. Will be doing one, perhaps two more prep drawings just to make sure. The next one(s) will be straight photograph profiles to make sure I can read human features right and not just lines.
That’s it for now!
