BOOK STUDY: DRAWING ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE BRAIN (DAY 13-14)

On 5 April, 2013 by eraza

Heya,

Continued to the next chapter of the book. This one is all about profile drawing.

I’ve been learning about the proportions of the skull and face which has been quite fun to figure out. I was then tasked with copying a drawing by John Singer Sargent of Madame Pierre Gautreau which you can see here:

This is what I came up with:

Day 13-14 - Copy of Sargent's Mme. Pierre Gautreau

Next up according to the book is drawing a profile portrait of a real person, however, I don’t want to inconvenience my friend who I have asked to model for me so I will be doing a practise drawing from a photo first of all so it goes a bit quicker when doing the real thing. Luckily though he’s happy to do it and says he’ll just watch a movie while I draw.

Practise will happen over the weekend, friend’s drawing will happen sometime next week. As we will be rather busy at work next week I can’t say exactly when but it will happen!

Best,

-Mathias
