Beginnings

Greetings!

You’re probably wondering what exactly this is. So am I really.

I should’ve spent more time figuring out exactly what I want this to be.

Here’s to wingin’ it!

My name is Mathias and I am a Dane (Danish person) living in London, making a living. However, a few months ago I finally figured out what I want to do with my life, and ever since, I’ve been teaching myself furiously.

I am not the most driven person, and throughout my teenage years I was jumping from one thing to another, desperately trying to find something that I could be truly passionate about. Something that I would want to constantly better myself in, not out of necessity but out of sheer desire, and I have finally found this!

I hope to one day become a digital artist/illustrator, unfortunately I’ve only just realized this at 22 years of age which means to reach my goal I have a lot work ahead of me.

Currently I am studying anatomy using the book Figure Drawing For All Its Worth by Andrew Loomis.
When I am not busy with that I am using my tablet to maintain and improve my hand-eye-coordination.

I am also currently working on a monthly web comic to force myself to produce something using Photoshop at least once a month and when I go to bed I read various theory books on art. Currently Light and Color by James Gurney.

I want to use this blog to remind myself of my accomplishments and goals to hopefully add a bit more structure to my learning process. If on the way the people stumble upon the blog and start following it, that’d be great, the more the merrier!

I invite anyone interested in my situation to come along for the ride.

That’s it for now!

-Mathias
