15 minute portraits #1
Heya,
Some guys from my life drawing class hold a portrait drawing class 2-3 times a month on Wednesdays.
This sounded like good fun to me, so I tried going.
It was a really nice event and everyone was nice and we had a generally good time. However, my shitty self-image got the better of me again and I can’t seem to shake it off.
I did terribly, as you can see in the first image below. I had no idea what I was doing or how to achieve what I wanted with a portrait when only given 15 minutes to do so.
Because of that I decided to hunker down and study some quick portraiture and have been giving it a go now and then. I’ve certainly improved a bit and feel more confident in it now, though I will hold off another week or two on going to the portraiture event as it’s very far away, ends up taking up my entire evening and is a bit expensive travel wise so I want to make sure I get the most out of my time and money which I don’t feel I do with where I am at just now, though hopefully I can make a change in that in the next few weeks and start going regularly as I thoroughly enjoyed myself.
I also really tried to place myself in social situations with others and get talking to new people as it’s something I am terrible at and even though I keep going back to the same old topics such as work, hobbies, why they are there etc. I feel a bit more relaxed now so that’s good I suppose.
Anywho, here are the drawings I’ve done so far in chronological order:
Will be doing a LOT more of these in the future. Great, fun, stressful exercise that keeps you on your toes.
