11 November 2012 Update
Hey all,
So I have been working on a few things lately. First of all, here’s an environment study I’ve done for my art class:
Then we were assigned with coming up with a host of different facial features using the following face template file. The purpose is to create as many varied faces as possible from just simple shapes:
These are the rough shapes I came up with:
Then we are to make the faces look realistic. So far I have only gotten 1 / 12 faces close to finished, but that’s because I am still really poor at doing shapes and forms in Photoshop, however, this part of the exercise is REALLY helping me to develop that understanding of form so I am taking as much time as I can to understand and focus on what I am doing:
Other than that I had my art teacher help me out with some foreshortening problems with the Nightmare Before Christmas image I am making. I haven’t had any real time to work on it so far, so I am starting to think I may not get it ready in time (I fail at art deadlines apparently…) but soon the course I am doing with my job will be over so I an dedicate all of my spare time to drawing/painting. Yay!
I am looking so much forward to my Christmas holiday this year. It will be nice to see my family again, but it will also most certainly be nice to have around 20 days off work so I can get a feel for what it will be like to solely work with art. Will push myself by making a work schedule to uphold, will be interesting to see what it’s like, and if I do it right I will take a massive step artistically this Christmas!
That’s it for now.
